Hey There,
I am heading out to dance in Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Never been to Taiwan, and we don't have much time off - what should I try to see/do in Taipei?
Thanks,
-Orion

It depends on how many days you stay in Taipei.
Taipei is fun to visit.
Great food is everywhere, and shopping is various, too.
But you definitely need a local to take you around. Otherwise, you can just buy a tour book to walk around. Here are two websites you can check out!

Have fun in Taipei,
P.S. Taiwanese are friendly and welcoming.
By the way, where are you performing in Taipei?
Thanks, Shulin,
We're performing at the Novel Hall For Performing Arts
I have one day off in Taipei, followed by 3 days of shows. The last show is a matinee, so I'l have an evening free. Someone told me to try chow la (sp?) in a beer garden, spicy mussels. Sounds good. I have been pretty wiped out on this tour (we're in Hong Kong now) and we have hard show days in Taipei but I'd like to do one cool thing there on that free day.
Thanks for links, I'll check those out.

Hey Orion,
My name is Nicole. I am student at SUNY Purchase currently doing an exchange program here in Taipei. I am here with 4 other dancers and we had told a student to get us tickets for one of your shows but she never got back to us. We are hoping to maybe still catch one.
Novel Hall is beautiful and I think you will all enjoy performing there!
I have only been here one month but there is defiantly a lot to see and do! I would go to the Shinlin Night Market if you are interested in shopping, it is known for its many stores and good prices. Hot pot is a favorite among people here, but I would save it for a meal where you will want to eat a lot. I would also recommend visiting a hot spring or natural bath house! It would feel great after all of your performing. If you are interested write me back and I will give you more detailed information!
Also, if you guys need any help while here, let me know. I have a cell here and would love to share the little knowledge I have.
Have fun!
Nicole
Hi Nicole,
Thanks for the reply. I wish I'd seen this while I was still there. I got some bad news right before we got in so didn't end up doing much.
I still had a great time in Taipei. The thing I probably liked best was going to the hot springs after our last show (which was a matinee) Several of us went to the public springs in a small park at the end of one of the subway lines (the red one). We spent about an hour there, the locals were very friendly, and I felt great the next day. And my skin was so soft... it was amazing.

Hi Nicole,
I'm on my way to spend the summer in Hsinchu City, a bit outside of Taipei. I'm wondering if you have any good dance resources for the area. I know there are some festivals in july and august...
Are you still abroad? What are your thoughts on the dance scene?
Thanks,
mauriah
